Welcome to Energy Neighbourhoods.
The Energy Neighbourhood project started in October 2007 and sought to demonstrate how significant savings can be made, both in money and carbon, through simple changes in behaviour.
Actions such as not overfilling your kettle when you boil it, turning off the lights when you leave a room or regularly defrosting your fridge freezer, can all add up and make a significant impact on fuel bills and ultimately the environment.
As well as this, Energy Neighbourhoods was a competition. Households could compete against their friends and neighbours, communities against other communities, and overall the UK competed against other countries across Europe, to become the best energy saving nation!
The project, which took place over 30 months, is now finished but this website provides a step by step guide of how the project was run together with a whole host of energy saving tips. There is also a brochure which provides an illustration of how the project was carried out in the other European partner countries as well as the overall results. These can also be accessed by clicking here. Alternatively, it is possible to download the project summary.
