EnergyNeighbourhoods a step by step guide...

  1. All potential participants needed to get in touch with Severn Wye Energy Agency to enrol or to find out more about the project.
  2. A welcome pack and energy saving goodies were sent to get each registered household started.
  3. All householders were encouraged to attend their local launch event to meet their team mates and their energy master
  4. Each household needed to complete a 'DIY Energy Audit' to see where their home used the most energy
  5. The first meter readings needed to be taken on November 1st - the competition had now started
  6. Each household was encouraged to follow the advice of their energy master and the energy saving tips each week to start saving energy and money
  7. Each household meter needed to be read as often as possible, optimally once a week with the readings recorded on the meter card provided in the welcome pack
  8. The meter readings were passed to the energy master to input onto the website where it was possible to see how much energy was being saved compared to the previous year.
  9. Crucially, the meter needed to be read on the 30th April 2009 - the last day of the competition.
  10. All participants attended the closing party to have fun but most importantly to see how their community did against all the others.
