Energy Neighbourhood UK Award Ceremony
In August 2009 we held the Energy Neighbourhood Award Ceremony at Randwick Village Hall, Gloucestershire. This fun event was a big thank you to all the families that took part in the project but most importantly, it announced the winning neighbourhood.
There was plenty for all ages to see and do; activities included a tombola, a lucky dip, a hog roast, a cycle powered food blender and even a cycle powered paint mixer! There was also an information stand where visitors could gather ideas and inspiration on the many ways in which energy can be saved in and around the home.
Pictures of this fantastic day can be found on the gallery page on the SWEA website.
Energy Neighbourhood International Award Ceremony
Once the winning team for the UK had been announced, they were invited to be a part of the international award ceremony in Brussels. In October 2009 the winning households from the Wotton-under-Edge team joined the winning households from around Europe to celebrate the success of the project, to share experiences and to find out who had been the overall winner. The UK team made a combined saving of 17.22%, it is worth noting however, that there were individual households who were making savings in excess of 50%. The overall winning team, however, were Team Ahlgren from Sweden who managed a wopping 37.63% reduction on their energy consumption!
The picture below shows the UK team celebrating in Brussels!
