Save Energy, Save Money and Have Fun!

An Energy Neighbourhood is a group of households who are prepared to take on the challenge of reducing their energy consumption in a competition with other neighbourhoods from across Europe.

A neighbourhood doesn’t mean you all have to be neighbours. You can be a group of individuals from a club or society.

The competition takes place between December 2011 and March 2012 and is repeated in December 2012.

What's in it for me?

  • Confused by your energy bills or unsure of how you can make savings? Then this project will help you to lower your energy bills for the rest of your life.
  • Make new friends while you work together to reduce your energy bills and there is a big party at the end with all the other energy neighbourhoods.
  • Prizes are awarded during the completion and the best group in Ireland can nominate 4 members to go on a free trip to the awards ceremony in Brussels.

There is also a Short Film Competition, closing date in June 2012. Find details here.

The competition starts on 1st December and we are looking for teams to take part. So to learn more about the Energy Neighbourhoods project and register your interest please contact Paul in The Tipperary Energy Agency on 052 7443090 or [email protected]

by Siona

Turning off your microwave or cooker at the switch saves typically 10-20Watts (about €20 - €40 per annum). An expensive clock!
