Knowing where to begin in your quest to save energy can sometimes be a little bewildering.  In the first instance it is always useful to carry out a 'do it yourself' energy check of your home.  It isn't onerous, it is a fantastic way of finding out where you use the most energy in your home and it provides you with ideas on how you can reduce the energy you are using.

There is also plenty of advice and lots of ideas of what you can do on our 'hot tips' page.  If however, you simply want to know how much things in your home actually cost to run then it is worth looking at the enlightening 'how much does it cost...?' document - you'll never want to use the tumble dryer again!

However, if you find yourself wanting to know the science behind climate change or perhaps you are interested in making a more substantial environmental lifestyle change it might be worth looking through our list of possible reads - books that are both informative and fun!  There is also a page dedicated to a whole host of other useful websites.

At the beginning of December, all participants in the competition should have received their own Energy Meter Reading Card to provide a permanent record of their meter readings, a Participant handbook and the Do it yourself home energy check.  If for any reason you can't find them, they can be downloaded from the list below.
